Aggies Gear Up for Final Round of Fall Preview at Traditions

BRYAN, Texas - The Texas A&M women's golf team shot a second-round 306 and slipped to 15th place on Tuesday at the 2010 Fall Preview, presented by Callaway Golf, at Traditions Club.

The Aggies (297-306=603) sit at 27-over par as a team heading into Wednesday's final round, which begins at 7:30 a.m.-one-half hour earlier than originally scheduled. A&M is paired with Texas and Michigan State and will tee off at approximately 8:24 a.m. from the 10th hole.

"It was definitely a learning day for the freshmen," head coach Trelle McCombs said. "The most important thing I want to see tomorrow is us bounce back after a tough round. We have the ability to shoot good numbers out there, I've seen it. Now we just have to go out and do it."

No. 4 Alabama fired the best round of the day, an 8-under 280, to take the team lead. The Crimson Tide's two-day total of 566 (-10) is a course record.

16th-ranked LSU (570, -6) is four strokes back in second place, followed by No. 3 USC (-5), No. 13 Georgia (-2), No. 10 Vanderbilt (-2), No. 6 Duke (+4), No. 2 UCLA (+4), No. 22 Tulane (+14) and No. 9 Virginia (+15).

Top-ranked Purdue and No. 7 Auburn are tied for 10th at 17-over par, followed by No. 8 Wake Forest (+18), Texas (+21), No. 23 Michigan State (+23), the Aggies, No. 17 Tennessee (+28), No. 11 Stanford (+29) and No. 14 Pepperdine (+34).

A&M senior Sarah Zwartynski continued her strong play with an even-par 72 on Tuesday. She sits at 143 in a tie for 19th place, 1-under for the tournament and five strokes back of the leaders. Alabama's Brooke Pancake and Vanderbilt's Marina Alex are tied atop the field at a 6-under 138.

Sophomore Sarah Beth Davis (74-75=149, +5) is tied for 42nd, while freshman Katerina Ruzickova (76-78=154) sits at 10-over. Fellow freshman Chelsea Mocio (76-81=157) is at 13-over and sophomore Aly Smith (80-85=165) is at 21-over heading into the final round. Freshman Janell Lysack (78-81=159), competing as an individual, is in a tie for 83rd at 15-over.

The Fall Preview concludes at Traditions on Wednesday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. Admission is free of charge. Fans can follow the action with live scoring through golfstat.com.
