COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Join the Texas A&M women's basketball team this holiday season as they travel to Cancun (Nov. 24-28) for the Thanksgiving Classic and New York City (Dec. 17-20) for the Maggie Dixon Classic.
In New York City, fans will have three night's accommodations at the Hilton Times Square, attend both games in Madison Square Garden and join the team at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
The Maggie Dixon Classic, the nation's premier women's basketball doubleheader features the 2010 Big 12 Champions Texas A&M taking on C. Vivian Stringer's Rutgers Scarlet Knights, followed by a matchup between the 2010 Big Ten Champions Ohio State and two-time defending national champions UConn. The Huskies have won an NCAA-record 78 straight games having gone unbeaten the last two seasons and Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma will look to keep his Huskies undefeated at Madison Square Garden.
"It is a tremendous opportunity to play in the Maggie Dixon Classic," said Texas A&M head coach and two-time Naismith Coach of the Year finalist Gary Blair. "It is a privilege not only to represent our school and program, but to be a part of such a tournament that raises awareness of heart-related illness.
"Rutgers will have a tremendous crowd, they travel really well, and we want to make sure we go up there with a good representation. At the same time it is a great way for fans to get some good Christmas shopping in."
The Maggie Dixon Classic is held annually in memory of the former Army Black Knights women's basketball coach. Her death came three weeks after her first season as a head coach, a performance that won the admiration of the academy and all of college basketball.
Fans also have the chance to experience the wonderful weather and beauty of Cancun over the Thanksgiving holiday. Included are four-star deluxe hotel accommodations for four nights at the Barcelo Costa Cancun Resort, all meals at the all-inclusive resort and tickets for every tournament contest with roundtrip game transfers.
