The Texas A&M women's golf team stands in 12th place after the opening round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club on Sunday.          Â
The Aggies shot a 19-over par 307 and are trailing Tulane (-1), Virginia (-1), Arizona (+4), UC Davis (+5), UNLV (+6), Denver (+8), Pepperdine (+9), Minnesota (+10), San Jose State (+14), Chattanooga (+15) and Tennessee (+16).
Sophomore Sarah Beth Davis is tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard after firing an even par round of 72. She is three shots out of the lead behind the 3-under rounds of 69 from Brittany Altomare of Virginia and Therese Koelbaek of UNLV.
Freshman Katerina Ruzickova is tied for 45th after a 5-over round of 77. Freshman Chelsea Mocio and sophomore Aly Smith are tied for 56th after shooting 7-over rounds of 79. Senior Sarah Zwartynski is in 88th after a first round of 85.
The Aggies will be paired with Central Arkansas and Tulane in the second round and will tee off from the first hole beginning at 12:30 p.m. (central time).
