Aggies Swim to Victory at ASA Open Water Collegiate Championships

Texas A&M's Rita Medrano, Liz Nelson and Maureen McLaine finished 1-2-3 to lead the Aggie women's swim team to a victory at the fourth annual American Swimming Association Open Water Collegiate Nation

Texas A&M's Rita Medrano, Liz Nelson and Maureen McLaine finished 1-2-3 to lead the Aggie women's swim team to a victory at the fourth annual American Swimming Association Open Water Collegiate National Championships on Saturday at Lake Travis.

Medrano, a junior from Aguascalientes, Mexico out-dueled Nelson and McLaine down the stretch to complete the 5,000-meter course in 1 hour, 3 minutes and 5 seconds to lead the Aggie charge. The Aggies took the team victory with 284 points to outdistance runner-up Rice and Trinity.
