Playing in her first tournament in the maroon and white, Texas A&M freshman Natalie Reeves fired a 1-under par 71 to help the Aggies to their lowest round of the year on Saturday at the Tar Heel Invitational.
Reeves, from Euless Trinity High School, helped the Aggies jump a slot in the team standings to a tie for ninth place. Reeves' round boosted the Aggies to a 3-over 291 for the day, and A&M is 7-over through two rounds. The Aggies are tied with Georgia, and both teams are looking up at Alabama (-25), Duke (-10), LSU (-6), North Carolina (+2), Virginia (+3), Wake Forest (+3), Auburn (+5) and Michigan State (+5).
Reeves used four birdies to offset three bogeys for her 71 and climbed 18 spots in the standings to 75th. Senior Sarah Beth Davis turned in her second straight even par round and is tied for 22nd. Freshman Katerina Ruzickova carded her second straight 2-over 74 and is tied for 50th at 4-over. Freshman Chelsea Mocio had a 82 and is tied for 87th at 15-over.
The Aggies will tee off in the final round on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (CT) and will be paired with South Carolina and North Carolina State.
