COLLEGE STATION, Texas - After leading the Texas A&M soccer team to a pair of shutouts last weekend, Texas A&M senior Kelly Dyer earned the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week accolade, the conference office announced Tuesday.

With the two impressive victories, the Aggies jumped up three spots to No. 7 in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Top 25 Poll.

A goalkeeper from Germantown, Tenn., Dyer recorded eight saves over the two matches. On Friday, she directed an A&M defense that limited Baylor, who was averaging 18.3 shots per game, to just five shots as the Aggies handed the Bears' their first shutout loss of the season, 2-0. Dyer was just as strong on Sunday as A&M picked up a 4-0 victory over Texas Tech.

Dyer has now tallied three straight clean sheets and four for the season. In addition, she has not allowed a goal in nearly 347 minutes of play. Dyer was also honored this week by being selected to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week.

The Big 12 Player of the Week award is the fourth for the Aggies this season and the fourth career honor for Dyer.

Dyer and the Aggies travel to Iowa State and Missouri this weekend. Kickoff in Ames, Iowa, on Friday is set for 6:30 p.m. and Sunday's match in Columbia, Mo., is televised nationally on ESPNU at 4 p.m.
