COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M men's and women's basketball teams will officially tip-off the 2010-11 season late Friday night with their annual “Maroon Madness” in conjunction with Midnight Yell Practice at Kyle Field.

Gates will open at 10:30 p.m. and the women's basketball team will be introduced at 11:30 p.m. Yell Practice will be at midnight, followed by introduction of the men's basketball team.

Both teams advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament last season and are expected to compete for their sixth consecutive trip to “The Big Dance”. The women finished 26-8 last year and won the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City, while the men went 24-10, finished second in the league and won a first-round NCAA game for the fifth straight season.

Maroon Madness has the potential to be the largest-attended preseason college basketball event in the country. The event, previously held at Kyle Field in four of the last five seasons, saw A&M set the unofficial national record for attendance at a preseason basketball tip-off event when more than 28,000 fans attended in 2007.
