COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M freshman softball player Emily Albus was the recipient of the 2010 adidas Golden Shoe award as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

The adidas Golden Shoe award is presented annually to the top base stealer from an NFCA member institution in each of the following divisions: NCAA (Divisions I, II and III), NAIA, NJCAA (Divisions I, II and III), Cal JC, NWAACC and high school.

A committee comprised of head coaches in each of the 10 divisions determines the winner of their respective award.

From Brenham, Texas, Albus earned her second straight Golden Shoe by stealing 70 of 75 bases for an average of 1.70 per game. In addition, she helped guide Brenham High School to the Class 4A regional quarterfinals.

The senior shortstop gave a big boost to the Cubettes' offense by hitting .661 on the year with a .895 slugging percentage and a .796 on-base percentage.

Her performance in 2010 earned Albus her fourth consecutive All-State and Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American selections and allowed her to choose Texas A&M over other Division I softball powers Arizona, and Florida.

Catch Albus and the entire 2011 Texas A&M softball team in the best-of-three Maroon and White Series on Tuesday, Oct. 19, Wednesday, Oct. 20, and Thursday, Oct. 21 (if necessary). First pitch at the Aggie Softball Complex is at 4 p.m. each day and admission is free to the public.
