IRVING, Texas - Texas A&M junior forward David Loubeau was an honorable mention selection to the Big 12's preseason all-conference team, the league office announced.
Players honored in preseason voting were selected by the league's head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
Loubeau (Miami, Fla.) appeared in all 34 games last season as the Aggies finished second in the Big 12 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight season.
Named the league's most improved player by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Loubeau averaged 9.2 points and ranked second on the squad with 4.7 rebounds per game. He came on strong down the stretch and was A&M's second-leading scorer over the final 14 contests, averaging just under 12 points. He was one of just two Aggies to score in double figures in both NCAA games.
Texas A&M, which returns 10 letterwinners and three starters from last season's 24-win squad, began practice late last week. The Aggies open the season on Friday, Nov. 12 against Alcorn State at Reed Arena, and will host St. Mary's in an exhibition game on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Season tickets are available now by logging on to aggieathletics.com or by calling 888-99-AGGIE.
