Doubles Draw Get Acrobat Reader

WACO, Texas - Texas A&M's Christi Liles and Nazari Urbina have advanced to the Round of 16 in doubles at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional matches at the Baylor Tennis Center.

Liles and Urbina, who had a first-round bye, defeated Carolina Deluca and Martina Trierweiler of UT El Paso, 8-5.

Texas A&M's Morgan Frank and Lauren Santacroce got a first-round win by defeating Leah Fried and Varsha Shiva Shankar of Rice, 8-6, but fell to Nikki Sanders and Carolina Starck of Texas Tech, 8-3, in the Round of 32.

In other action, A&M's Sheri Oliver fell in the first round, 8-5, to Maria Babanova and Idunn Hertzberg of TCU.

Although Urbina advanced to the Round of 16 in singles with a default victory over injured Alina Shazhko of Stephen F. Austin, no singles matches were actually contested as the matches were postponed because of inclement weather.

Action resumes Sunday at 9 a.m. The tournament runs through Oct. 26. The singles and doubles champions of the 12 regional sites advance to the UTSA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, to be held Nov. 4-7, at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
