COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M freshman setter Allie Sawatzky has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week for matches played Oct. 18-24, the conference office announced today.

The 6-2 lefty from St. Andrews, Manitoba, Canada (Lord Selkirk) receives the conference honor for the second time in her career after pacing the Aggies with 10.38 assists and 1.75 kills per set while hitting .500 for the week as A&M went 1-1.

Sawatzky posted career highs with 13.5 points and 12 kills while leading all players with a career-high .588 hitting percentage in a 3-2 loss at Oklahoma. Her .588 [12 kills, 1 error, 17 attempts) hitting percentage is the highest mark by an A&M player in a five-set match this season when recording at least 10 kills. She also tallied 46 assists and two blocks, including a solo block, against the Sooners.

Sawatzky dished out 37 assists, the most by an A&M player in a three-set match this season, in a sweep against Colorado on Saturday.

Sawatzky, who ranks fifth in the Big 12 with 9.66 assists per set for the full season, leads the Aggies (10-11, 4-7 Big 12) back to action Wednesday as A&M takes on Texas Tech (3-17, 1-10 Big 12) in Lubbock, Texas. First serve against the Red Raiders is slated for 6:30 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
