BUENOS AIRES, Argentina--One current and one former member of the Texas A&M men's golf team have earned the honor of competing in the World Amateur Team Championships, starting Thursday in the Argentine capital.

Senior All-American Nacho Elvira (el-VEE-ruh) will represent Spain, while former Aggie All-American Andrea Pavan (puh-VAHN) is competing for Italy.

Founded in 1958, the World Am is organized by the International Golf Federation (IGF) and takes place every two years. Teams from 70 countries will compete for the Eisenhower Trophy in a four-round, stroke-play format. The field will be split across two courses, the par-72, 6,962-yard Buenos Aires Golf Club and the par-71, 6,801-yard Olivos Golf Club.

Elvira is paired with Brazil's Rafael Becker and South Africa's Dean O'Riley for first-round play, and will tee off from the 10th hole at Olivos at approximately 1:13 p.m. ART (11:13 a.m. CT).

Pavan will play his first round at Buenos Aires beginning at 7:57 a.m. ART (5:57 a.m. CT). He is paired with Juan Perello of the Dominican Republic and Tze Huang Choo of Singapore.
