Aggies place ninth in both races at Big 12 Championships

STILLWATER, Oklahoma - Texas A&M cross country teams each finished ninth on Saturday during the Big 12 Championships hosted by Oklahoma State University. Texas Tech women and Oklahoma State men each claimed a third consecutive team title.

The leading finisher for the Aggies were Katherine Devlin over the women's 6,000-meter course and Kevin Burnett on the men's 8,000-meter course. Devlin ran a time of 21:10.43 to place 24th overall. Burnett clocked 25:15.56 to place 26th. The Aggie women totaled 229 points while the men scored 242.

Texas Tech women scored 44 points to hold off Colorado, who was second with 53. Iowa State (79) finished third with Oklahoma State (90) fourth and Texas (147) fifth.

The OSU Cowboys totaled 19 points to win the men's division over Colorado's 46. Oklahoma (61) claimed third with Texas (127) fourth and Iowa State (133) fifth.

Finishing behind Devlin on the A&M women's squad was Haley Parsons in 41st with a time of 21:43.93 with Itzel Cetina at 44th in 21:45.49. Then the next pair of Aggies to finish was Amanda Jenkins (22:16.00) in 64th and Tara Upshaw (22:17.03) in 65th.

Kasey McNorton (22:36.76) finished sixth for A&M and she was followed by Natosha Rogers (22:56.32) in 86th, Gabby Salazar (22:57.55) in 89th, and Colbea Harris (23:25.56) in 99th.

Henrik Ingebrigtsen did not finish the men's race, stopping after reaching 3,000 meters. The second finisher for the Aggies was Nathan Parker, who placed 43rd in 25:35.68.

Then a pair of A&M runners finished in tandem, with MacLean O'Donnell (26:21.15) placed 65th. The fifth Aggie runner was Jimmy Welin (26:32.81) in 69th.

C.J. Brown (26:36) in 72nd while Ryan Snapp (27:04:05) finished 83rd.
