PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Texas A&M's Nazari Urbina fell in the first round of the main draw of singles late yesterday and went 1-1 in the consolation bracket today to conclude singles play at the prestigious Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at the at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

In addition, Urbina (pronounced nah-ZAR-ee ur-BEE-nah) and senior Morgan Frank of Oldsmar, Fla., won their first round match in the doubles main draw late yesterday but were eliminated today in the second round.

Urbina was eliminated from the main draw of singles yesterday after falling to No. 7 Denise Dy of Washington, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Urbina then defeated 13th-ranked Josipa Bek of Clemson, 6-4, 6-0 in the first round of the 16-player main draw consolation bracket on Friday morning. Urbina trailed Bek, 4-1, in the first set before reeling off 11 straight games to win the match.

Urbina was eliminated in the main draw consolation quarterfinals by fifth-ranked Allie Will of Florida, 6-1, 6-2 Friday afternoon.

"Will was really good," A&M coach Bobby Kleinecke said. "Nazari was up 2-0 with a chance to go up 3-0 but lost that game and that turned the set for Will."

In doubles, Frank and Urbina were eliminated in the main draw second round, falling to 16th-ranked Anna Bartenstein and Bianca Eichkorn of Miami, 8-6.

"We didn't play too well up until we were down 5-2 and 6-3," Kleinecke said. "Then we started to play a lot better and actually had two different game points to have a chance to go up 7-6. We were doing the right things, but they just didn't work out for us.

"I'm proud of the way they fought through and didn't give up and kept trying to find a way to win. That's the key. We can walk away knowing what things we need to work on, so overall this tournament has been a big success."
