Krajicek & Dadamo represent Texas A&M at National Indoor Tennis Championships

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The ITA announced the selections for the 2010 USTA/ITA National  Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, featuring the nation's top men's and women's collegiate tennis players competing at the new indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in Flushing, New York. Columbia University will serve as the tournament host from Nov. 4-7.

Texas A&M will be represented by senior All-Americans Austin Krajicek (Brandon, FL) and Jeff Dadamo (Tampa, FL) who both earned at-large selections for their outstanding play. Texas A&M, Virginia, Tennessee and Ohio State are the only schools with more than one representative in singles action.

“I am very proud of Austin and Jeff,” Aggie head coach Steve Denton said. “Both of these seniors have performed well on the big stage and this is truly a national championship in a terrific setting.”

Krajicek is the top-ranked Big 12 tennis player in singles entering the season at #12 overall. He was the Co-Big 12 Player of the Year last spring and posted a 19-7 record at the No. 1 position last spring.

Dadamo posted an overall record of 18-9 last spring playing mainly on the #2 line. He earned All-Big 12 honors and was tabbed the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year last spring and ranks #22 in the singles poll.

These championships feature a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field for men and women, including: champions from USTA/ITA Regional Championships held across the country during October, the USTA/ITA National Small College "Super Bowl" champions, the doubles champions and singles quarterfinalists from the D'Novo/ITA Men's and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, as well as at-large and wild card selections made by the ITA National Tournament Committee.

This event was inaugurated in 1978 for the men and 1984 for the women and past champions and finalists include current professionals Benjamin Becker (Baylor), James Blake (Harvard), Bob and Mike Bryan (Stanford), Somdev Devvarman (Virginia), Laura Granville (Stanford), John Isner (Georgia) and Lisa Raymond (Florida). Big Ten legends and  Grand Slam finalists Todd Martin (Northwestern) and MaliVai Washington (Michigan) are also among the past champions.
