COLLEGE STATION, Texas--Texas A&M head women's golf coach Trelle McCombs signed Patricia Garcia from Marista High School in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, to a national letter of intent.
"Patricia is going to be a great addition to our already talented team," McCombs said. "She is a very hard worker, both on and off of the golf course. She is very dedicated to her studies, just as she is very dedicated to her golf game. We cannot wait for her to be here next fall."
Garcia is the 2009 Puerto Rico Women's State Amateur Champion as well as the Caribbean Amateur and she has represented Puerto Rico in three consecutive World Amateur Team Championships (South Africa, Australia and Argentina) as one of the youngest golfers in the field.
"There are a lot of reasons to go to Texas A&M," Garcia said. "I like the outstanding coaches, the team chemistry is great, the school has incredible facilities and excellent academics. When I visited, I really enjoyed the Aggie Spirit and the overall University values. The school spirit is very unique. I think it is the best place for me to develop myself both as a person and as a golfer."
Last summer, Garcia finished second at the Optimist International Tournament held at PGA National.
