COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 8-ranked Texas A&M women's basketball team held its Maroon and White game in front of a crowd close to 800 fans on Saturday afternoon at Reed Arena.
Preseason All-Big 12 selection Danielle Adams (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Maroon squad with a team-high 22 points. Junior Sydney Carter (DeSoto, Texas) added 18 points, five assists and four steals, while junior Kelsey Assarian turned in a scrimmage-high 13 boards.
Junior Skylar Collins (Cedar Hill, Texas) had a team-best 14 points for the White team and sophomore Kelsey Bone (Houston, Texas) added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures for the Aggies were junior Tyra White (Kansas City, Mo.) with 15 points and nine rebounds, junior Adaora Elonu (Houston, Texas) with 13 points and senior Maryann Baker (Dallas, Texas) with 13 points and five steals.
The Aggies played five 10-minute periods, including two against their men's practice squad and ended the scrimmage with a 97-97 final score. The team also signed autographs and took the opportunity to pose for pictures with fans after the scrimmage.
A&M hosts its season home opener against UALR on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Reed Arena.
