FRESNO, Calif. - The Texas A&M equestrian team is ranked No. 1 for the first time in program history, as the latest edition of the Equestrian Coaches Poll was released Tuesday.
A&M (5-0) is off to one of its best starts in the varsity equestrian era, and took over the top spot by virtue of wins over two of the top four teams in the country.
Auburn, who the Aggies defeated two weeks ago, is ranked second, followed by Georgia, Oklahoma State and TCU. A&M topped the Cowgirls in late October.
The Aggies' next opponent, Kansas State, is in sixth, followed by South Carolina, Baylor, Fresno State and New Mexico State.
The collegiate coaches competing under the Varsity Equestrian umbrella initiated the national poll.
Texas A&M will close the fall season on Saturday morning when they play host to the K-State Wildcats. Show time at the Brazos County Expo Complex in Bryan is set for 10 a.m.
