The Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team logged 16 NCAA qualifying times or scores on the first day of the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday at the GT Aquatic Center.

 The Aggie swimmers logged 14 NCAA “B” cuts, while a pair of divers posted zone qualifiers as the defending Big 12 Champions dominated first day action. A&M is atop the team standings with 487.5 points, which is more than 150 ahead of the day one runner-up Florida State (326.5).

 The Aggies won four events on Friday with the 400-yard medley relay of sophomore Tess Simpson, freshman Breeja Larsen, freshman Paige Miller and freshman Lili Ibanez hitting the wall first in 3:37.09, freshman Sarah Henry winning the 500 free in 4:41.08, senior Lindsey King taking the 200 IM in 2:00.18 and senior Jaele Patrick winning the 3-meter dive with 376.35 points.

 A&M opened the day with a runner-up finish in the 200 free relay with the foursome of senior Maria Sommer, Miller, sophomore Meagan Hairston and freshman Lili Ibanez touching in a NCAA “B” cut time of 1:32.02.

 Trailing Henry in the 500 free were sophomore Maureen McLaine (2nd, 4:42.85), freshman Cammile Adams (4th, 4:44.82), senior Hannah Kinder (5th, 4:46.76), Ibanez (7th, 4:49.96), junior Alyssa Conner (9th, 4:49.96) and sophomore Liz Nelson (10th, 4:40.09), who all posted NCAA  “B” cuts.

 The Aggies went 1-2-3-4 in the 200 IM with King taking first, followed by senior Melanie Dodds (2nd, 2:00.21), freshman Erica Dittmer (3rd, 2:00.26) and freshman Kim Pavlin (4th, 2:00.78), who all posted “B” cuts.

 Senior Maria Sommer posted a “B” cut in the 50 free with a time of 22.88 while placing fifth, and she was faster on the lead-off leg of the 200 free relay with a time of 22.75.

In the 3m dive, Patrick took first with a season-best total of 376.35 and junior Janie Potvin was third with a score of 325.75.
