EL PASO, Texas - Texas A&M junior Jordan Russell will compete in the prestigious 2010 Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic Monday and Tuesday at El Paso Country Club.

Thirty-two of the nation's premier collegiate golfers will compete in the 36th edition of the tournament that features returning champion Hunter Hamrick of Alabama, 2010 U.S. Amateur Champion Peter Uihlein (Oklahoma State) and 2010 NCAA Champion Scott Langley (Illinois).

Action begins on Monday at 8 a.m. (MT) with two rounds, while the final round is scheduled for Tuesday at 8 a.m. (MT). The field includes seven of the top 11 amateur golfers in the world.

"Jordan has worked so hard and played so well over the last year that is great to see him receive credit and recognition for his achievements," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "He is a terrific competitor and I am excited to see how he does against the best players in the nation."

Russell, who hails from College Station, had a tremendous fall season for the Aggies that included the American collegiate title at the Topy Cup in Japan in September and third-place finishes at both the U.S. Collegiate Championship and the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. He posted nine rounds of par or better, including a school-record 63 at the Topy Cup. Russell's three-round 203 at the event also tied the school standard.

Throughout the years, many Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic competitors have gone on to pursue successful careers in the Professional Golfers' Association of America and on the PGA Tour. Some of the past champions include Ricky Barnes (2000), Notah Begay (1994), David Duval (1991), Matt Kuchar (1999), Davis Love III (1984), Chris Nallen (2003), Jerry Pate (1974), Nicholas Thompson (2004) and Tiger Woods (1995).

"This is an extraordinary field of collegiate golfers," tournament chairman Gary Hanson said. "Each year we strive to make this event better and better, but nothing makes the tournament better than a strong field of competitors. The Sun Bowl and our volunteers create a top quality event for the best college golfers in the world."

Russell will tee off at 8:30 a.m. (MT) and is paired with UCLA's Gregor Main and Georgia Tech's J.T. Griffin. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
