COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Big 12 Conference, in conjunction with Chick-fil-A has honored junior women's basketball player Skylar Collins as a Fall Community of Champions.
From Cedar Hill, Texas, Collins was an Academic All-Big 12 Second Team selection a year ago. The 5-foot-9 guard is a two-year letterwinner who has played in 46 career games. She is averaging a career-best 5.0 point per game this season. Collins is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is a marketing major.
During the fall, winter and spring terms, one student-athlete from each institution is honored based on the following criteria:
1) An academic standard of a 3.00 grade point average or higher must be maintained. 2) The designated student-athlete should be involved with at least one community service program. The program(s) could be a student organization on campus or within the athletics department. 3) The student-athlete should demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship on and off the field.
Texas A&M and each institution of the student-athletes on this list will be awarded $3,000 each year from Chick-fil-A for their efforts.
