FRESNO, Calif. - The undefeated Texas A&M equestrian team closed out the fall season atop the Varsity Equestrian Coaches' Poll as expected when it was released earlier this week, but the Aggies received a little extra recognition on top of that honor.

A&M (6-0) became the first team in the history of the poll to receive a unanimous No. 1 ranking, taking all 100 possible points in the voting.

"The entire team and staff are very excited to see Texas A&M earn the unanimous No. 1 vote," head coach Tana McKay said. "I think it definitely says something when your peers credit your accomplishments. We couldn't be happier with the start to our year, but now we have to keep that determination alive and stay focused as we prepare for our spring season."

Auburn is ranked second with 83 points, followed by Georgia, Oklahoma State, TCU, South Carolina, Kansas State, Baylor, New Mexico State and Fresno State.

The Aggies already have wins this year over the No. 2 (Auburn), No. 4 (Oklahoma State), No. 7 (Kansas State), and No. 8-ranked (Baylor) teams. A&M is scheduled to face OSU, South Carolina (No. 6), Kansas State, Baylor and Fresno State (No. 10) in the spring season.

The collegiate coaches competing under the Varsity Equestrian Championship umbrella initiated the national poll. A&M earned the program's first-ever No. 1 ranking in the previous poll, released two weeks ago.

The Aggies will open the spring season on January 28 with a show against sixth-ranked South Carolina at the Brazos County Expo Complex.
