LAST TIME OUT: Texas A&M 62, SFA 53
COLLEGE STATION (Dec. 2)--B.J. Holmes scored 15 points, and Texas A&M overcame a second-half deficit to defeat Stephen F. Austin 62-53 before 5,755 fans at Reed Arena. The Aggies (6-1) trailed 36-31 seven minutes into the second half before rallying. Holmes' 3-pointer gave them a 50-43 lead with 6:54 remaining. Jordan Glynn led the Lumberjacks (4-2) with 20 points and eight rebounds. David Loubeau had nine rebounds for Texas A&M. The Aggies committed 16 turnovers that Stephen F. Austin converted into 19 points.
Texas A&M Head Coach Mark Turgeon: "It was a good win, we were a little flat, the whole building was flat, Stephen F. played great. We did what we had to do and made adjustments. We competed in the second half and made decisions and we came out on top. Give our guys credit, Stephen F. Austin made some tough ones, some shot-clock-winding-down shots. We had some guys that were out of it tonight. I thought we were extremely soft at the start of the game. That said, we wore their little guy down eventually and executed and did what we had to do. (Defensively) we were real solid. We put a lot into the scouting. They run a lot of plays, I thought we guarded their sets well. Except for Khris on one close out, I thought we guarded the ball a little better in the later game. We did some things differently in the second half, got B.J. going, ran more plays for him, got more movement. He hit a big three and that got him going. It's what seniors do. BJ is a winner. We're a major work in progress. We have some work to do to get us going."
