COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M's Danielle Adams earned Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors on Monday by a media voting panel for games played from Dec. 6-12.
It marked the second career honor for the 6-foot-1 forward/center who earned her other weekly honor on Jan. 25, 2010. She is the first A&M player to receive the conference award this season.
Adams led the No. 7 Aggies on the week and averaged 23.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in A&M's contests against No. 5 Duke, Purdue and TCU. She shot 49.1 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.0 percent from the charity stripe.
Against Purdue, she matched her career high with 27 points, including going 6-of-7 (85.7) from the free-throw line, and followed that performance with a career-best 33 points versus TCU. It was the fourth-highest point total scored by an individual in program history and marked the most points by an Aggie since 2001. Adams was 12-of-19 (62.3) from the floor against TCU which was a career-high in field goals made. She added seven rebounds in each game.
The Kansas City, Mo., product matched her career best with 12 rebounds at Duke while adding 11 points and a season-high four blocked shots in a career-best 37 minutes of play.
She registered her sixth career double-double and fourth of the season. Adams posted back-to-back 20-plus point games and has reached double figures in 18 straight games.
Adams is averaging a team-high 21.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
The Aggies return to action on Sunday, Dec. 19 against Rutgers at the Maggie Dixon Classic in New York City. The matchup is set to tip off at 11 a.m. and is televised nationally on ESPNU.
