Aggie Basketball Cracks Top 25; Hoops Luncheon Set for Wednesday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M appears in The Associated Press' college basketball poll for the first time this season, as the Aggies came in at No. 25 in the new rankings released Monday.

A&M (9-1) has won six straight games, including a 63-62 victory over then No. 21-ranked Washington on Saturday at Reed Arena. The Aggies also have a victory over then No. 20-ranked Temple in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando on Nov. 28. Over the six-game span, A&M has held opponents to 36 percent shooting from the floor and just 55 points per game.

The Big 12 has three teams ranked in the top 10 and six overall, including No. 3 Kansas, No. 6 Kansas State, No. 9 Baylor, No. 13 Missouri, No. 22 Texas and the 25th-ranked Aggies.

Texas A&M returns to action this Saturday when they head to Dallas to participate in The Showcase at American Airlines Center. The Aggies will face off against longtime Southwest Conference rival Arkansas for the first time in 20 years, with tipoff set for 1 p.m. Baylor and Gonzaga will conclude the doubleheader immediately following. Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.




HOOPS LUNCHEON SET FOR WEDNESDAY

The second fan luncheon held by Texas A&M head basketball coach Mark Turgeon is scheduled for this Wednesday, Dec. 15 inside the Cox-McFerrin Center.

The luncheon will start at Noon in the men's basketball practice gym and will last until approximately 1 p.m. Fans will be able to enjoy a meal, highlight video and listen to remarks from Turgeon and other members of the staff. Select players will also be in attendance.

Cost of the luncheon is $10, paid for by cash or check only. Those attending can park in Lot 100G, directly south of Reed Arena. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m.

Additional luncheons are scheduled for January 26 and February 21.
