COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Two members of the Texas A&M student body have been selected to join the eight-time national champion equestrian team through the walk-on tryout process, head coach Tana McKay announced.

Emily Giffin (Houston, Texas/Westside HS) and Brittany Williams (Bryan, Texas/Bryan HS) have joined the undefeated and top-ranked Aggies for the remainder of the 2010-11 season.

"We're excited about adding these two Aggies to our squad," McKay said. "They both went through the walk-on tryout process and showed us they deserved to be on the team."

Giffin is a freshman biomedical sciences major from Houston and a recent graduate of Westside High School in Houston. She won the 18 and under division reining title this past summer at the 2010 ABRA World Championship show and took home a reining crown at the Champion of Champions show in 2008. Giffin has also qualified for and shown at the AQHA Youth World Show in reining in each of the last two seasons.

Williams, a sophomore animal science major from Bryan, has been riding for over 13 years. A second-generation Aggie, she grew up riding dressage and eventing and spent last semester on the A&M horse judging team. Williams is the daughter of Myron and Elaine Williams.

Giffin, Williams and the rest of the Aggie equestrian team resume action on January 28 when they host South Carolina at the Brazos County Expo Complex.
