Six in a Row
• A&M suffered its first loss of the year on Thanksgiving Day, a two-point setback to a hot-shooting Boston College squad ... since then, the Aggies have won six straight and held their opponents (Manhattan, No. 20 Temple, SFA, Pacific, Prairie View, No. 21 Washington) to a sparse 35.8 percent shooting from the floor and 25 percent from 3-point range ... during that span, Aggie foes have averaged just over 55 points per game and been out-rebounded by a margin of 10 boards.
• The six-game win streak is A&M's longest since 2009, when the Aggies rattled off six in a row late in Big 12 play to lock up another NCAA Tournament berth ... it already marks the fifth time a Mark Turgeon-coached A&M team has won at least six straight games (10 games, 2008-09; 8 games, 2007-08; 6 games, 2008-09; 6 games, 2007-08; 6 games, 2010-11).
Hot Start
• Only five teams in school history have had better starts than this year's Aggies (9-1) ... the 1915-16, 1919-20, 1959-60, 2004-05 and 2005-06 teams all began the year 10-0 ... Mark Turgeon previous A&M teams were 9-1 (2007-08), 9-1 (2008-09) and 8-2 (2009-10) through their first 10 games.
Road Warriors
• The Aggies have won 9 of their last 13 games away from Reed Arena dating back to early February of last season ... three of those four losses have been by 4 points or less ... A&M's setbacks in that stretch came at No. 24 Baylor (70-66), against No. 1 Kansas in the Big 12 semifinals in Kansas City (79-66), in overtime to No. 10 Purdue in the NCAA Second Round in Spokane (63-61) and most recently on Thanksgiving Day vs Boston College (67-65).
Success Against Ranked Teams
• The Aggies are 2-0 this season against ranked opponents, picking up a 54-51 win over Temple (No. 20 USAT/ESPN, No. 21 AP) at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando and a 63-62 win over Washington (No. 21 AP, No. 22 USAT/ESPN) this past Saturday at Reed Arena ... it marks just the third time in school history that an A&M team has scored at least two regular-season wins against ranked non-conference foes ... two of the three times have come under Mark Turgeon (2009-10 and 2010-11) ... legendary coach Shelby Metcalf won 4 in the 1978-79 season.
• Mark Turgeon is 4-2 at A&M in games against ranked non-conference opponents during the regular season ... his teams have won three straight.
• A&M played 12 ranked teams last season ... the Aggies will play 7 other games against teams ranked in the latest AP Top 25 poll, including Kansas (3rd), Kansas State (6th), Baylor (9th, 2 games), Missouri (13th), and Texas (22nd, 2 games).
Making a Stand
• Texas A&M's defense, which had been strong all season, faced a tough test this past Saturday from the nation's best offense in Washington and shined brightly ... A&M held Washington, who entered the contest averaging 95.5 points per game, to a season-low 62 points ... the Aggies held the Huskies to a season-low 37.7 percent shooting (entered averaging 51.3%) ... A&M's defense allowed UW 6-of-22 (27.3%) shooting from the 3-point arc (entered averaging 47.5%) ... A&M forced Washington into a season-high 20 turnovers.
• A&M has held 7 of its 10 opponents under 38 percent shooting from the field ... under Turgeon, the Aggies are 47-4 (7-0 this year) when their opponent shoots under 40 percent and are 74-20 (9-1) when they make under 50 percent.
Aggies in the NCAA Rankings
• In the latest NCAA rankings (released Monday), A&M ranked sixth nationally in rebounding margin (+12.2) ... Pitt (15.2) leads the country ... the Aggies have out-rebounded every opponent this season ... the Aggies are 73-13 under Turgeon (9-1 this year) when matching or out-rebounding their foes.
• A&M also ranked 14th in the country in scoring defense (56.7 ppg) ... Stephen F. Austin, whom the Aggies beat at Reed Arena on Dec. 2, leads the nation (53.1 ppg).
• The Aggies are holding opponents to 37.1 percent shooting from the floor, which ranks 21st nationally ... A&M ranks 29th nationally in 3-point field goal defense, with foes shooting just 28.2 percent from behind the arc.
Senior Watch
• A&M's senior class needs 17 more wins to become the winningest class in school history ... the Class of 2011 is 84-32 (.724) entering Saturday's game with Arkansas, trailing only the 2010 (100-38, .725), 2009 (98-37, .726), 2008 (95-37, .720) and 1982 (85-40, .680) classes in the record books.
• An NCAA bid would make the 2011 seniors just the third class in school history to advance to four NCAA Tournaments, joining those from the Classes of 2009 and 2010.
A&M in "The Big D"
• Texas A&M will be playing a regular-season, neutral-site game in Dallas for the first time since the 1980-81 season ... that year, the Aggies' SWC opener with TCU was played at the brand-new Reunion Arena ... considered A&M's "home" game, the Aggies fell to the Horned Frogs, 56-51.
• A&M's last visit to the Metroplex was just last year, however, as the Aggies defeated SMU 80-68 on Nov. 16, 2009 at Moody Coliseum.
• The Aggies are 13-18 all-time in neutral-site games in Dallas, with a majority coming in Reunion as part of the Southwest Conference Tournament.
• Texas A&M is 1-3 all-time inside American Airlines Center, with all games part of the Big 12 Tournament ... the Aggies' lone victory came in the Big 12 quarterfinals against Colorado on March 10, 2006, an 86-53 victory over the Buffs that was A&M's first ever in the Big 12 Tournament ... the Aggies suffered losses inside AAC to Iowa State in 2003 (97-70), Missouri in 2004 (74-68) and Texas in 2006 (74-70).
Poll Success
• Texas A&M (No. 18 football, No. 25 basketball) is one of five schools nationally to be ranked in the latest AP Top 25 poll in both football and men's hoops ... Ohio State, Michigan State, Missouri and UConn are the others.
• A&M (No. 18 football, No. 25 MBKB, No. 8 WBKB) is one of four schools nationally to be ranked in the latest AP Top 25 poll in football, men's basketball and women's basketball ... Ohio State, Michigan State and UConn are the others.
Miscellaneous
• Texas A&M has outscored its opponents 356-255 in the first half this season and has carried an average lead of 10.1 points into the locker room.
• The Aggies dished out 20-plus assists in back-to-back games for the first time in the Mark Turgeon era ... A&M had 21 against Pacific (Dec. 4) and added 20 in a win over Prairie View (Dec. 8) ... the last Aggie team to accomplish that feat was the 2006-07 squad.
• A&M hit 10-plus 3-pointers in consecutive games for the first time in the Mark Turgeon era (10 vs Pacific, 11 vs Prairie View) ... the 2006-07 squad was the last to hit 10 or more 3-pointers in back-to-back games.
• Texas A&M was 0-for-8 from 3-point range against Washington (Dec. 11), snapping a streak of at least one 3-pointer in 310 consecutive games which dated back to Jan. 17, 2001 ... the Aggies still defeated UW, however, 63-62.
• A&M rebounded from a tough two-point loss to Boston College on Nov. 25 with a 29-point win over Manhattan the next day ... the Aggies never trailed in the game, and held the Jaspers to 7 points over the final 13 minutes ... under Mark Turgeon, the Aggies have won 11 of their last 12 games following a loss.
About Arkansas (7-1)
• Arkansas is 7-1 on the year after an 87-64 win over Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday ... the Razorbacks have won four straight, including a 71-62 victory over Seton Hall as part of the SEC/Big East Challenge in Louisville ... UA's lone loss was at home in overtime to UAB, 70-65, on Nov. 26.
• The Razorbacks return 3 starters and 8 letterwinners from a 2009-10 team that went 14-18 and finished third in the SEC West at 7-9 ... John Pelphrey (Kentucky '92) is in his fourth year in Fayetteville with a record of 57-47.
Series Notes (Arkansas leads, 96-50)
• Arkansas leads the all-time series, 96-50, in one of the most-played rivalries in school history ... • Ironically, the most recent meeting between A&M and Arkansas in basketball came in Dallas on March 8, 1991 at Reunion Arena ... the 5th-ranked Razorbacks defeated the Aggies in the SWC quarterfinals, 108-61, to improve to 29-3 ... Arkansas advanced to the Elite 8 that year before falling to Roy Williams' Kansas squad--a team that featured Mark Turgeon as an assistant coach.
• The Aggies' last victory over the Hogs came in the 1988-89 season, an 82-71 victory at G. Rollie White Coliseum ... Arkansas has won the last six meetings.
• Texas A&M is 22-30 all-time against the other 11 SEC schools ... the Aggies' last game against an SEC foe came in December 2008, a 72-61 win over LSU at Toyota Center in Houston ... the only two SEC teams that A&M has never faced in hoops are South Carolina and Georgia.
Sidebars

LAST TIME OUT: Texas A&M 63, (#21) Washington 62
COLLEGE STATION (Dec. 11)--David Loubeau blocked a desperation shot by Isaiah Thomas as time expired and Texas A&M held on for a 63-62 win over No. 21 Washington before 10,296 fans at Reed Arena. The Aggies (9-1) led by seven with about four minutes to go before the Huskies (6-3) scored six straight points to pull to 63-62 with about 1 1/2 minutes remaining. Texas A&M's Khris Middleton missed a 3-pointer and C.J. Wilcox missed one for the Huskies with 17 seconds left and Washington knocked the ball out of bounds. The Aggies got the ball down the court before Thomas stole the ball from Nathan Walkup and raced back for the shot. But Loubeau knocked it down to give Texas A&M the win. Middleton led the Aggies with 17 points and Loubeau added 15 points and nine rebounds. The win was Texas A&M's sixth straight and its 70th consecutive regular-season non-conference win at home. It was the third loss of the season for the Huskies, whose previous two were to No. 17 Kentucky and seventh-ranked Michigan State. Washington entered the game leading the nation in scoring with almost 96 points a game and had scored 100 four times this season. Their 62 points and 37.7 percent shooting were both season lows. They were led by Thomas who had 13 points and Abdul Gaddy added 10. The Aggies were up by six points in the first half before Washington went on a 9-1 run to take a 19-17 lead about eight minutes before halftime. Washington trailed by two points near the end of the first half before scoring five straight points to take a 32-29 halftime lead. Both teams shot under 38 percent in the first half and the Huskies' 32 first-half points were a season low..
Texas A&M Head Coach Mark Turgeon: "Obviously it was a great win for us. I think that Washington has Final Four talent. We're still trying to find ourselves, but defensively we were as good as we've been all year. Just down the stretch, we couldn't make a play, we got really good looks, we just didn't make the play. I couldn't believe they didn't foul (at the end), I thought they were going to foul. And of course, ten thousand people were yelling Nate's name, but he didn't hear them. Then you just have to stop and say I hope they miss a shot. Nate picked him up, which wasn't the best match up, and David made a smart play. It was a big time block, it was clean, I'm glad they didn't get a shot up on the rim. (This win is) going to look good at the end of the year, it doesn't really do anything right now. We have to play better, we can't get caught up in it. We had a great home crowd in there. We had a some long faces at halftime, I was on them telling them we have to believe we can win this game. I said win or lose, this doesn't make or break our season, let's go out and play the way we're capable of. I thought our intensity...our guys were dialed in. It was just great team defense. The timing and execution was really good and our guys played really smart today."

Pitt (15.2) leads the country ... the Aggies have out-rebounded every opponent this season ... the Aggies are 73-13 under Turgeon (9-1 this year) when matching or out-rebounding their foes ... A&M is just 8-17 under Turgeon when being out-rebounded.

• Four players are averaging at least 4.5 rebounds per game--David Loubeau (5.7), Nathan Walkup (5.4), Khris Middleton (5.0) and Kourtney Roberson (4.8) ... it's early, but by comparison just two did so last season--Bryan Davis (8.1) and Loubeau (4.7).
Forcing Turnovers
• Texas A&M's quick defense has already paid big dividends in the early part of the season ... the Aggies have put up two of the highest P.O.T. totals in the Mark Turgeon era in the first 10 games ... A&M scored 31 points off turnovers in the win at A&M-Corpus Christi, the second-highest output in the Mark Turgeon era ... the Aggies scored 34 off turnovers last season against North Dakota ... A&M also had 28 points off turnovers in the season opener against Alcorn State, matching the total in the 2007-08 opener against McNeese State (28), Turgeon's first game as head coach.
• Texas A&M is averaging 17.7 points off turnovers per game ... under Turgeon, the Aggies are 52-9 (6-0 this year) when they have more points off turnovers than their opponent.

OFFENSE NOTES
Fast-Paced Offense
• Texas A&M has outscored its opponents 356-255 in the first half this season and has carried an average lead of 10.1 points into the locker room.
• Texas A&M is 36-2 under Mark Turgeon when scoring at least eight fast-break points (6-0 this year) ... the Aggies' 21 fast-break points against Prairie View (Dec. 8) was a season high.
• The Aggies are 24-3 under Turgeon (3-0 this year) when scoring at least 80 points and 53-5 (6-0) when scoring at least 70 ... A&M has scored 74 or more in six of its nine wins this year.
• A&M is 66-11 under Turgeon when leading at halftime (7-0 this year), and 14-19 when trailing (2-1).
Sharing the Ball
• The Aggies dished out 20-plus assists in back-to-back games for the first time in the Mark Turgeon era ... A&M had 21 against Pacific (Dec. 4) and added 20 in a win over Prairie View (Dec. 8) ... the last Aggie team to accomplish that feat was the 2006-07 squad.
• Texas A&M dished out a season-high 21 assists in Saturday's win over Pacific ... it was the most in a game by an Aggie team since they totaled 21 in a 77-71 win over Kent State on Nov. 29, 2008.
From Way Downtown
• A&M hit 10-plus 3-pointers in consecutive games for the first time in the Mark Turgeon era (10 vs Pacific, 11 vs Prairie View) ... the 2006-07 squad was the last to hit 10 or more 3-pointers in back-to-back games.

Make Shots, Win Games
• Texas A&M is 56-7 under Turgeon (6-1 this year) when hitting better than 45 percent from the field and a perfect 31-0 (1-0) when hitting at 50 percent or higher.
Strong Down Low
• Texas A&M has scored at least 40 points in the paint in two games this year ... A&M did so just four times last year ... this season, the Aggies are averaging 29.8 points down low (28.6 average in 2009-10).
• Under Turgeon, A&M is 77-24 when scoring at least 20 points in the paint (7-1 this year).
Take Another Chance
• The Aggies are averaging 16.7 second-chance points through 10 games ... A&M only went over 20 in that category one time last year (home vs Texas) but has already done so twice this season.
Balancing Act
• The loss of A&M's top three scorers from last year (Donald Sloan, Derrick Roland, Bryan Davis) appeared to be a challenge that would have to be met by a "team" effort, and so far that's been the case ... the Aggies have four players averaging about 10 or more points per game in B.J. Holmes (9.7).
• A total of 8 Aggie players have combined for 36 double-figure outings thus far (Middleton 9, Holmes 6, Hibbert 5, Walkup 5, Loubeau 5, Roberson 4, Harris 1, Lewis 1) through the first 10 games.
