COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M's Danielle Adams was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday by a media voting panel for games played from Dec. 13-20.
It marked back-to-back conference player of the week honors for the 6-foot-1 forward/center and her third career award.
The Kansas City, Mo., native averaged 24.0 points and 12.0 rebounds last week in a win against Rutgers in front of 15,232 fans at Madison Square Garden. Her points and rebounds were game highs, and she matched her career best with 12 rebounds. In an all-around game, Adams added two assists, two blocks and a steal.
Adams recorded her conference-best fifth double-double of the season and seventh of her career against Rutgers. She also extended her double-digit scoring streak to 19 games and has posted 20+ points in the last three consecutive contests.
Playing a team-high 36 minutes, Adams was instrumental in holding the Scarlet Knights to a season-low 26.5 percent from the floor and 0.0 percent from beyond the arc. Adams and the Aggies also forced Rutgers to make a season-high 27 turnovers, which marked the most turnovers forced by a team in the history of the Maggie Dixon Classic.
Adams is averaging a team-high 21.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
Up next, the Aggies travel to the west coast when they journey to San Diego after Christmas for the four-team Surf `N Slam College Hoops Classic. The Aggies face Drexel on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 9 p.m. (CT) and then take on either San Diego State or UTSA on Thursday, Dec. 30.
