IRVING, Texas - Texas A&M sophomore Khris Middleton was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for games of Dec. 13-19, the league office announced Monday. It marks the first weekly accolade of Middleton's career, awarded through a vote by a panel of media covering the conference.

Middleton (North Charleston, S.C.) scored a career-high 31 points to lead the 25th-ranked Aggies to a 71-62 overtime victory over Arkansas Saturday at American Airlines Center in Dallas. He was 10-for-16 from the field and hit 9-of-12 free throws to help A&M improve to 10-1 on the year and win its seventh straight game.

With the Aggies down six in the second half, Middleton scored 11 of the A&M's final 12 points of regulation to force overtime. His 31 points were the most by an A&M player in nearly four years. Middleton became only the second player to score over 20 against the Razorbacks' stingy defense this year, which came in allowing just under 61 points per game to its opponents.

Middleton joins Acie Law, Josh Carter and Bernard King as the only players in Texas A&M history to claim a Big 12 weekly award. He is the first to take home the honor since Law was named Big 12 Player of the Week in late February of 2007.

The Aggies conclude play before the Christmas break on Tuesday night when they host the Wagner Seahawks at Reed Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m., and tickets can be purchased for as low as $5 through the Athletic Ticket Office's Half-Price Holiday Hoops Special.
