COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Elizabeth Solch, a member of the Texas A&M equestrian team, recently earned the title of Outstanding Junior from the Texas A&M College of Liberal Arts.

Solch currently sports a perfect 4.0 GPA in international studies with minors in economics and Asian studies. A native of Cincinnati, she was selected for the honor based on GPA, class difficulty and hours completed. By virtue of the award, Solch was an honorary inductee into Phi Kappa Phi, Texas A&M's oldest honors society.

The daughter of Walter Solch and Joyce LaFontaine, Solch is currently in her first year of studies at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service and is working to pursue a master's degree in National Security Affairs. She is studying Mandarin Chinese as a complement to her curriculum.

A two-time team captain, Solch was the team's most valuable rider on the flat last season. She earned the program's first-ever individual berth in the flat competition at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships and currently has 18 career victories. Solch went 5-1 this fall to help the program to its first-ever No. 1 ranking.
