Texas A&M swimmer Sarah Woods (Birmingham, Alabama) was one of six recipients of the prestigious Craig C. Brown Outstanding Senior Engineer Award on Friday.
The award is considered the most prestigious honor bestowed on a graduating senior in the University's Dwight Look College of Engineering and is presented to a student who demonstrates scholastic achievement, leadership skills and a strong moral character.
Woods compiled a perfect 4.0 in chemical engineering at Texas A&M and was a C.D. Holland and Phillips Scholar in the A&M Department of Chemical Engineering, as well as a member of the Omega Chi Epsilon Honor Society.
She was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 swimming team selection and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. She was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second-team in 2009 and she was a four-time member of the College Swimming Coaches Association All-Academic team.
In the pool, Woods helped the Aggies to four consecutive top eight NCAA finishes and three Big 12 team championships as one of the team's top freestyle sprinters and relay contributors. Woods swam on five Big 12 Champion relays during her career and she competed at the NCAA Championships three times.
