Another 300 Yard Game For Johnson
Senior Heisman Trophy candidate Jerrod Johnson posted the ninth 300-yard passing game of his career with a 322-yard season-opening outing against SFA. Johnson completed 28-of-40 passes and was responsible for three touchdowns (2 by pass, 1 by rush).
C-Mike and C-Gray
Running backs Christine Michael and Cyrus Gray, both Doak Walker Award candidates, combined to rush for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns on 38 carries. Michael rushed for 105 yards on 22 carries, which marked the third 100-yard plus rushing game of his career.
Fuller Nears Long's Career Receiving TDs Record
Junior wide receiver Jeff Fuller had a pair of receiving touchdowns against SFA, which increased his career total to 18, which is just one shy of Bob Long's 42-year old school record of 19 set from 1966-68.
Swope Has Big Day
Sophomore Ryan Swope lined up all over the field and had his best day as an Aggie with a whopping 13 catches for 106 yards. Swope's 13 catches tied for the second-most in school history and were the most by an Aggie since Albert Connell had 18 against Colorado in 1996. It was the first 100-yard receiving game of Swope's career.
Pick-Six for Dustin Harris
Sophomore cornerback Jordan Peterson returned an interception 48 yards for a score against New Mexico in 2008. It was the first defensive touchdown of any sort since defensive end Paul Freeney scooped up a fumble and rumbled 58 yards for a touchdown against Army in 2008.
Streakers ...
• Ryan Tannehill, Jeff Fuller and Martellus Bennett.
• Jerrod Johnson threw for two touchdowns against SFA, which increased his streak of games with at least one passing TD to 19, which is the second-longest in the Football Bowl Subdivision (31 by Case Keenum, Houston).
