The No. 8 Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team tuned up for Saturday's showdown with No. 2 Georgia and No. 21 SMU by outdistancing North Texas, 173.5-116.5, on Friday in Denton.
The Aggies will duel the Bulldogs and Mustangs at 12 noon on Saturday at SMU's Perkins Natatorium in Dallas. Against the Mean Green, the Aggies won 15-of-16 possible events en route to the victory.
The Aggies opened and closed the meet with relay victories with the 200 medley relay of freshman Kim Pavlin, freshman Erica Dittmer, sophomore Kendra Chernoff and freshman Lili Ibañez hitting the wall in 1:45.48, and the foursome of Dittmer, sophomore Meagan Hairston, Pavlin and sophomore Christine Regone closed out the meet with a win in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:36.77.
Notching individual victories for the Aggies were junior Alyssa Conner in the 1,000 free in 10:12.62, sophomore Jaclin Rehring in the 200 free in 1:52.74, senior Lindsey King in the 100 backstroke in 56.80, Dittmer in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.79, senior Melanie Dodds in the 200 butterfly in 2:06.56, Ibañez in the 50 free in 24.35, senior Maria Sommer in the 100 free in 51.99, sophomore Tess Simpson in the 200 back in 2:03.03, freshman Breeja Larson in the 200 breast in 2:19.25, sophomore Maureen McLaine in the 500 free in 4:55.62, junior Rita Medrano in the 100 fly in 56.51, freshman Jessica Macaulay in the three-meter springboard with a score of 236.25, and freshman Sarah Henry in the 400 IM in 4:18.28 (NCAA B cut).
