COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Aggie softball team held its first practice Monday at the Aggie Softball Complex, officially kicking off the 2011 season.

Practices begin at 3:15 p.m. and continue each day through Friday. They are open to the public.

"We are excited to start practicing again," head coach Jo Evans said. "We only have three and-a-half weeks until opening day, so we will be working hard to be ready. We had a great fall and I expect for us to pick up where we left off."

The squad of 21 (12 returning letterwinners and nine newcomers) voted the team captains to be seniors Rhiannon Kliesing and Missy Siegel. Kliesing is one of seven returning starters on the Texas A&M roster this season.

The Aggies, who finished 44-16 in 2010 and made their ninth-straight NCAA tournament appearance, ended the season at the NCAA regional.

Texas A&M softball takes the field for its first contest of 2011 on Feb. 11 against Cal State Fullerton at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
