IRVING, Texas - Texas A&M's Danielle Adams was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday by a media voting panel for games played from Jan. 17-23.
It marked the third conference player of the week honor this season for the 6-foot-1 forward/center and her fourth career award.
Adams averaged 29.5 points, 12 rebounds and 4.5 blocks with a pair of double-doubles to lead Texas A&M to two victories last week, including the Aggies' first win in Ames, Iowa.
The senior from Kansas City, Mo., matched a Reed Arena record and tallied the third-most points in program history with a career-high 34 points against Texas last Wednesday. She tied her career-best of 12 rebounds and posted her ninth career double-double and seventh this season. She scored 30+ points for the third time this season.
At No. 20 Iowa State, Adams had a first-half season-high three blocked shots en route to a season-best six blocks. She again matched her career-high rebounds (12) and her career-best in 3-point field goals made (4) for a 57.1 shooting percentage from beyond the arc (4-of-7). With a team-high 25 points, Adams extended her double-digit scoring streak to 27 straight games.
She leads the Big 12 and ranks seventh nationally with 22.4 points per game.
Adams is nearing 1,000 points for her career (943) and will be only the third player all-time to accomplish this feat in just two seasons.
Oklahoma's Aaryn Ellenberg, who averaged 26 points and four rebounds in the Sooners' two wins last week, was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week.
Adams and the No. 5 Aggies travel to No. 14/13 Oklahoma on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and then host top-ranked Baylor on Sunday at noon in two matchups that promise to have major ramifications in the Big 12 race.
