GAME PREVIEW
With seven games remaining in the Big 12 Conference regular season and its eye on the top prize, the fifth-ranked Texas A&M women's basketball team (20-2, 8-1) plays host to Kansas (16-8, 3-7) on Saturday, Feb. 12 at Reed Arena. Tipoff between the Aggies and the Jayhawks is set for 7 p.m. (CT). A&M hosts its fifth-annual Beat the Hell Outta Breast Cancer campaign with the goal of raising $35,000 to benefit the Kay Yow Foundation in honor of the late North Carolina State head coach. In each of the past three years, the Aggies have raised over $30,000 for breast cancer research. After a convincing 21-point victory over No. 12 Oklahoma on Wednesday, the Aggies remain in second place in the conference standings and with Kansas Saturday they play back-to-back Big 12 home games for the first time this season. Texas A&M is currently 9-1 on its home court this year and will play four of its last seven contests in the friendly confines of Reed Arena. The Aggies are in the middle of a tough stretch that pits them against three opponents in six days and is capped off with No. 1 Baylor on ESPN2 "Big Monday" on Feb. 14.

The Aggies shot 44 percent en route to their third straight win. Texas A&M also forced 30 turnovers, including 20 in the first half. Without three of its top offensive players--(Danielle McCray, Angel Goodrich and Carolyn Davis) all of whom are injured-- Kansas (15-14, 5-11) never managed a consistent offensive attack. Aishah Sutherland led Kansas with 13 points and the Jayhawks have lost five straight games. With Adams controlling the inside and with the Jayhawks' turnovers leading to easy baskets, the Aggies extended their lead in the second half. Texas A&M (22-7, 10-6) secured its fifth consecutive 10-win season in the league as well as its seventh consecutive win against the Jayhawks. Adams, Smith and Takia Starks currently holds that record with 1,141 points from 2007-09.
HOT FROM THE FLOOR
The Aggies are shooting 46.6 percent from the field this season, which ranks third in the Big 12 and seventh in the nation. That means three teams in the league, Baylor (5th - 47.7%) and Kansas (6th - 46.9%) included sit in the top 10 nationally in field goal percentage. What's more is that the Aggies' 46.6 shooting percentage ranks second all-time in program history, next to the 1985-86 team that shot 47.4 percent from the floor.
20-WIN SEASON, YET AGAIN
With a win over No. 12 Oklahoma on Wednesday, Texas A&M recorded its sixth consecutive 20-win season under head coach Gary Blair and 11th overall in 37 all-time seasons of Aggie Basketball. It was the fastest any A&M team has reached 20 wins in a season and was also Blair's 20th 20-win season as a Division I head coach.
A SIZZLING START
Texas A&M is off to the best start in school history, winning 20 of its first 22 games. The Aggies have also gotten out to their first-ever 8-1 start in Big 12 play and look to improve on their record against Kansas. Previously, A&M at best, has gone 7-2 to start league play in 2006-07.
THE BEST OF BLAIR
In 26 years as a Division I head coach, A&M's 20-2 start is the best of any team Gary Blair has coached since 1992. In two seasons at Stephen F. Austin (1989-90 and 1991-92), Blair led his teams to 28-2 records before the team dropped its final game of each season in the NCAA Tournament for impressive 28-3 overall records each year.
FROM THE SIDELINES
