IRVING, Texas - Texas A&M's Danielle Adams was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday by a media voting panel for games played from Feb. 7-13.
The 6-foot-1 combination forward/center was honored with the league's weekly award for the fourth time this season and the fifth occasion in her career.
Adams averaged 35 points and 9.5 rebounds to lead the Aggies to a pair of victories last week. She shot 59.5 percent (25-of-42) from the floor, 50 percent (3-of-6) from beyond the arc and 94.4 percent (17-of-18) from the charity stripe.
Against Oklahoma, Adams finished with 30 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to tally her 10th double-double this season, the 13th of her career and a Big 12-best fifth in conference-only games.
The senior from Kansas City, Mo., then scored a first-half career best 26 points against Kansas en route to a career-high and school-record 40 points. She broke the A&M single game scoring record that had stood for 31 years and was previously held by Lori Foreman with 39 against Texas Women's University on Feb. 8, 1980. Adams added a season-best three steals in the win.
She currently has 1,083 career points, which is the most of any two-year player at A&M. In addition, she is on pace to tally the most points of any Aggie women's basketball player in two consecutive seasons.
Adams is riding a 32-game double-digit scoring streak and leads the Big 12 with 23.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Adams and the Aggies tip off against top-ranked Baylor tonight at 8 p.m. on ESPN2 in Big Monday action.
