GAME PREVIEW
The No. 5 Texas A&M women's basketball team (21-3, 9-2) welcomes Oklahoma State (15-9, 3-8) to Aggieland on Saturday, Feb. 19 for its NCAA “Pack the House” Challenge. Tipoff between the Aggies and the Cowgirls is set for 6 p.m. (CT) at Reed Arena. A&M plays three of its last five regular season games in the comfortable confines of Reed Arena and begins a two-game homestretch with OSU. The Aggies looks to rebound from a 58-67 loss to No. 1 Baylor, while OSU will be trying to bounce back from a 65-71 overtime loss at Missouri. A&M is in second place in the Big 12 Conference standings and the Cowgirls sit in a three-way tie for ninth. The last time the two teams met, senior Takia Starks currently holds that record with 1,141 points from 2007-09.
AMONG NCAA LEADERS
The Aggies are currently among the top 25 teams in the country in nine different NCAA statistical categories including turnover margin (2nd, +9.13), scoring margin (7th, 22.8), scoring offense (8th, 80.0), assist-to-turnover ratio (9th, 1.21), field goal percentage (11th, 45.9%), assists per game (11th – 17.3), won-lost percentage (13th, 87.5%), turnovers per game (14th, 14.2) and rebound margin (23rd, 6.9). Senior Sydney Colson and junior Sydney Carter also rank among the top point guards in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (Colson – 7th, 2.5 and Carter – 10th, 2.4). Colson is sixth with 6.4 assists per game and Adams ranks fifth with 23.0 points per game.
ADAMS, A FOUR-TIME BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Danielle Adams picked up her fourth Big 12 Player of the Week award and her fifth career honor on Valentine's Day Adams after she averaged 35 points and 9.5 rebounds in wins against No. 12 Oklahoma and Kansas. She shot 59.5 percent (25-of-42) from the floor, 50 percent (3-of-6) from beyond the arc and 94.4 percent (17-of-18) from the charity stripe. Against Oklahoma, Adams finished with 30 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to tally her 10th double-double this season, the 13th of her career. She then followed with a school-record, 40-point performance against Kansas and added a season-best three steals in the win.
BAYLOR RECAP
Baylor 67, Texas A&M 58
• For the 17th time this season, Texas A&M used the starting lineup of Sydney Colson, Sydney Carter, Tyra White, Adaora Elonu and Danielle Adams. The Aggies are 14-3 with this starting lineup.
• The Aggies fell to 35-46 in the all-time series with Baylor.
• The Aggies held the Lady Bears to just 38.5 percent shooting (10-of-26) in the first half. BU ranks fifth in the nation and normally averages 47.9 percent from the floor.
• A&M grabbed 25 rebounds in the first half, the second-most it has all season.
• Tyra White's career-best 29 points came on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. She also pulled down eight rebounds.
• Karla Gilbert grabbed a career-high eight rebounds against Baylor.
