COLLEGE STATION, Texas -

The No. 23 Texas A&M softball team (8-3) looks to continue its winning ways when it hosts Texas State (4-6) on Tuesday at the Aggie Softball Complex. The first pitch will be thrown at 6 p.m.

In 2009 when the Aggies traveled to the San Marcos, A&M fell in a 2-3 heartbreaker in front of 1,353 fans, despite home runs by Erin Glasco and Holly Ridley.

Texas A&M holds a 56-10 record against Texas State and has won six of the past seven games against the Bobcats.

PARKING
Parking is available for all home softball games in Lot 100 at Reed Arena and Olsen Field. Parking is free when there are no games at Reed or Olsen. During basketball and baseball games, parking will be $5. Arrive early to secure a space. For maps and schedules, log on to AggieAthletics.com.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies hosted UT Arlington, Wichita State, and Texas Southern in the Aggie Classic. A&M was 4-0 in the tournament, with two shutouts. Senior Rhiannon Kliesing led the team on the weekend, going 6-for-9 to post a .667 batting average. She hit three doubles and two home runs, scoring four runs and collecting nine RBI along the way. Freshman Cassie Tysarczyk added two home runs of her own, averaging .571 with four hits on seven at-bats, and earning five RBI. Pitchers Lindsey Sisk (4-1) and Mel Dumezich (4-2) were each 2-0 with one shutout in the Aggie Classic. Together they allowed only six runs.

SCOUTING TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats went 2-2 this weekend, hosting the CenturyLink Classic. Texas State defeated Iowa State 7-5 in the tournament opener, and again on day two, 3-0. The team was shut out twice by Purdue, 0-1 and 0-9. Sophomore Anna Hernandez had a hit in every game, earning a .545 batting average after going 6-for-11 from the plate. Sophomore Haley Lemons leads the team in overall batting with a .375 average.

ON DECK
The Aggies will be on the road for nine-straight games. The team travels to the Cathedral City Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. this weekend for a five-game road trip. A&M will face No. 10/11 Washington and Long Beach State on Thursday before taking on Ohio State (RV) and No. 2/4 Georgia Friday. Saturday the Aggies close out tournament play against Northwestern. A&M continues its long road trip the next weekend at the Bulldog Classic in Starkville, Miss.

AGGIES IN THE POLLS
Texas A&M started the season ranked in the top 25 in both preseason national polls, and is currently ranked No. 23 by ESPN.com/USA Softball, and 25th by USA Today/NFCA. A&M's remaining opponents appearing in the polls are No. 2/4 Georgia, No. 6/6 Oklahoma, No. 8/10 Missouri, No. 10/11 Washington, No. 13/13 Texas, No. 20/20 Oklahoma State, No. 21 Nebraska and 24/21 Texas Tech. In addition, Ohio State and Baylor are receiving votes.

BIG 12 PRESEASON POLL
A&M was picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Aggies received 54 points and finished behind preseason favorite Oklahoma (79), Missouri (71) and Texas (69). A&M was selected as the frontrunner for three consecutive years, from 2006-08, and was picked sixth last season. Oklahoma State placed fifth with 50 points, followed by Baylor (40), Texas Tech (33), Nebraska (26), Iowa State (15) and Kansas (13).

AGGIE SOFTBALL ON TV
The Aggies are one of four Big 12 teams to play in front of a national audience in 2011. A&M's contest against Texas on May 4 will air on FSN. The game is set for a 6:30 first pitch.
