NEW YORK - The Texas A&M men's golf team earned the No. 8 ranking in the first GolfWorld/Nike Golf Division I Coaches' Poll of the spring, the magazine announced this week.

The Aggies opened the spring season last week with a second-place finish at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai'i, firing a 24-under par 840 on the trip.

Oklahoma State leads the rankings, followed by UCLA, Florida, Georgia Tech and Alabama. Texas, Illinois, A&M, LSU and Auburn round out the top 10.

Texas A&M returns to action this weekend when the Aggies compete in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Action takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
