IRVING, Texas - Texas A&M's Danielle Adams was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, which is the most of any league player.
Danielle Adams averaged 28 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks last week as Texas A&M earned a pair of Big 12 victories over Texas Tech and Texas. She posted two double-doubles, tallied the most points of any A&M women's basketball player in two consecutive seasons against TTU, and she become the record holder for most points in a single season (633) during the UT game.
Adams scored 20 of her 30 points in the first half and had a career-tying 13 rebounds at Texas Tech, which were both game highs. It was a league-best sixth time this season Adams scored 20 points in a single half. She earned her double-double by halftime and was the first Aggie player to register a double-double in a single half since 2000. Adams had a 30-point game for the seventh time in her career, which matched the most career 30-point games of any A&M player.
Against Texas the 6-foot-1 forward/center posted her 12th double-double this season and the 15th of her career, in addition to reaching double figures in 35 of her last 36 games. It was her 18th 20-point performance this season. Of her game-high 11 rebounds against the Longhorns, Adams grabbed eight offensive boards which matched her season best. She now has seven double-doubles in conference play, which is the most of any Big 12 player.
Adams now has six Big 12 Player of the Week awards for her career.
Adams and the Aggies next travel to Manhattan, Kan., to take on the Kansas State Wildcats Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. The game is televised on FS Kansas City.
