COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 9 Texas A&M baseball team hits the road for the first time during the 2011 season this weekend, but will not have far to go as the Aggies travel to Houston, Texas, for the Houston College Classic. The Aggies will face Utah at 3:30 p.m. Friday, No. 17 Rice at 7 p.m. Saturday and Houston at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Aggies (8-1) are riding a two-game winning streak after sweeping a two-game set from Texas-Pan American this week at Olsen Field. This weekend will be their sixth appearance in the Houston College Classic.

• The Texas A&M pitching staff was tabbed as one of the country's best heading into the 2011 campaign and through nine games they have lived up to the billing. Overall, the Aggies sport a 1.30 earned run average with 80 strikeouts in 83 innings of work while limiting their opponents to a .200 batting average.
• A&M's starting pitchers have set the tone early in all eight of the team's wins. In fact, Aggie starters have allowed just four earned runs in the first 52.2 innings they tossed this year and carry a 0.68 ERA into the weekend.
• The Houston College Classic is the first trip on the road for the Aggies, who play 14 of their first 17 games at home ... A&M played the entire month of February at Olsen Field ... the Aggies have just nine regular-season games scheduled outside the state of Texas (Big 12 series at Oklahoma, Kansas State and Missouri).
