IRVING, Texas - Five Texas A&M women's basketball players earned recognition in the 2010-11 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Awards as announced by the league on Monday.

Senior Danielle Adams and junior Tyra White, both from Kansas City, Mo., were selected to the All-Big 12 first team, senior Maryann Baker (Dallas, Texas) claimed the Sixth Man Award, junior Sydney Carter (DeSoto, Texas) was voted to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team and both Carter and senior Sydney Colson (Houston, Texas) were named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.

Adams, a 6-foot-1 forward/center, earned unanimous selection to the first team after leading the Big 12 with 23.3 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. She shoots a team-best 51 percent from the floor and registered a league-best seven double doubles in Big 12 play this year. She was the only five-time Big 12 Player of the Week this season and earned the award after being named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player a year ago.

White, a six-foot guard, is A&M's second-leading scorer with 13.8 point per game. She leads the team with a 40 percent shooting percentage from beyond the arc and grabbed 5.7 rebounds per game in Big 12 play. She has started all 29 games this season and has reached double figures in 21 games with five 20-point performances. White was a member of the 2010 Big 12 All-Tournament Team.

Baker serves as a sparkplug off the bench for the Aggies. The 5-foot-10 guard has contributed 4.7 points and 3.0 rebounds for the Aggies while connecting on 41.2 percent (49-of-119) of her field goal attempts. She posted double figures in three Big 12 games, including a career-high 21 points at Oklahoma State on Jan. 12. This is Baker's first career conference honor.

Carter, a 5-foot-6 guard, is known for her tenacious defense. She can also produce on the offensive end, averaging 10.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assist per game. Her 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio is third-best in the conference and she leads the team with an 87.8 free throw percentage. Carter was on the 2009 Big 12 All-Freshman Team and was 2010 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.

Colson, a 5-foot-8 guard, leads the Big 12 with 6.4 assist per game and ranks second with a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio. She is a four-year team captain who is known for her court vision and who most recently dished out a career-high 15 assists, the fourth-most in school history, against Nebraska on March 5. This is Colson's first career conference honor.
