KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Texas A&M sophomore Khris Middleton was named to the 2011 National Association of Basketball Coaches District 8 second team, the organization announced Wednesday.
A 6-7 forward from North Charleston, S.C., Middleton paced A&M in scoring at 14.4 points per game and was second on the team in rebounds (5.2/game). He hit double figures in 25 of the Aggies' 30 regular-season games, led the squad in scoring a team-high 14 times, and was tops in rebounding a team-best 12. Middleton helped lead Texas A&M to a 23-7 regular-season record and a third-place finish in the Big 12.
The team was selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
Middleton and the Aggies head to Kansas City today and open play in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship on Thursday evening. A&M is the No. 3 seed and will face the Texas Tech/Missouri winner on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Sprint Center in a game that will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
