BALL GROUND, Ga. - The Texas A&M men's golf team is the No. 5 seed for this week's Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship and will open play Sunday at 8:30 a.m. against No. 12-seed Pacific at Hawks Ridge Golf Club outside Atlanta.
The Aggies will face either No. 4-seed Illinois or No. 13-seed Baylor in the next round, with the championship match scheduled for Tuesday.
A&M is making its fifth appearance in the event and is coming off a fourth-place showing last season.
Other first-round matchups are No. 1 UCLA vs. No. 16 South Carolina, No. 8 Georgia vs. No. 9 Texas Tech, No. 4 Illinois vs. No. 13 Baylor, No. 3 Georgia Tech vs. No. 14 Washington State, No. 6 Iowa vs. No. 11 USC, No. 7 Texas vs. No. 10 Duke and No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 15 East Tennessee State.
Texas A&M's lineup will include seniors Conrad Shindler, Nacho Elvira and John Hurley, junior Jordan Russell, and sophomore Cameron Peck.
The field includes five teams in the top 13 of the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, including UCLA (No. 2), Alabama (No. 3), Georgia Tech (No. 4), Illinois (No. 6), A&M (No. 7), Texas (No. 10), Iowa (No. 11) and Georgia (No. 13).
