After earning victories over a pair of nationally-ranked opponents last week, Texas A&M junior pitcher Ross Stripling was selected Monday as Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.

For the week, Stripling was 2-0 with just two runs allowed in 13 innings of work with 12 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA. He was joined by Texas Tech's Stephen Hagen and Andre Wheeler, who were honored by the league office as Player and Newcomer of the Week, respectively.

The Southlake, Texas, native's outstanding week began when he was given the starting nod against No. 13 Cal State Fullerton last Tuesday. Stripling baffled the Titan hitters all night long en route to tossing seven shutout innings while yielding only three hits and a pair of walks. He also struck out five batters in the winning effort.

Stripling was back in action on Sunday as he drew the start on the road against the Big 12's top-hitting team, No. 2 Oklahoma. The junior righty was also outstanding against the Sooners, tossing six innings of work while allowing one just run and scattering seven hits with no walks and seven punch outs.

The Aggie right-hander owns a 4-1 season record with a 0.96 ERA and has been outstanding this spring, leading Texas A&M in victories, appearances (10) and saves (3).

Stripling and the rest of the Aggies are back in action Tuesday when they will host Stephen F. Austin (16-5) in a 6:35 p.m. contest at Olsen Field.
