COLLEGE STATION, Texas - In addition to claiming Big 12 Pitcher of the Week accolades, Texas A&M junior pitcher Ross Stripling has been named College Baseball 360.com Primetime Pitcher of the Week and CollegeBaseballInsider.com Central Region Pitcher of the Week.
The two national honors came after a week in which Stripling was 2-0 with just two runs allowed in 13 innings of work with 12 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA.
The Southlake, Texas, native's outstanding week began when he was given the starting nod against No. 13 Cal State Fullerton last Tuesday. Stripling baffled the Titan hitters all night long en route to tossing seven shutout innings while yielding only three hits and a pair of walks. He also struck out five batters in the winning effort.
Stripling was back in action on Sunday as he drew the start on the road against the Big 12's top-hitting team, No. 2 Oklahoma. The junior righty was also outstanding against the Sooners, tossing six innings of work while allowing one just run and scattering seven hits with no walks and seven punch outs.
The Aggie right-hander owns a 4-1 season record with a 0.96 ERA and has been outstanding this spring, leading Texas A&M in both victories, appearances (10) and saves (3).
Guided by Stripling and the rest of the Aggies' outstanding pitching staff along with a resurgent offense, Texas A&M has claimed eight wins in its last 10 contests and enters this weekend's series with Kansas at Olsen Field owning a 16-5 season record.
