COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Big 12 Conference play comes to Olsen Field for the first time this season as the No. 6 Texas A&M baseball team host Kansas this weekend in a three-game series in Aggieland. Game times are set for 6:35 p.m. Friday, 2:05 p.m. Saturday and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.

Both the Aggies (16-5) and Jayhawks (10-10) enter the series tied for second place in the league standings with identical 2-1 Big 12 records. Texas A&M has won three straight contests and took two of three at No. 2 Oklahoma last weekend, while KU is also riding a three-game winning streak and took two of three from Oklahoma State in Lawrence to open conference play.

A&M/KANSAS SERIES NOTABLES
Texas A&M and Kansas have meet annually since becoming members of the Big 12 Conference during the 1997 season. The Aggies lead the overall series with the Jayhawks by the count of 44-15-1 and hold a 31-10-1 advantage during the Big 12 era.

The longest winning streak of the series belongs to the Aggies who won 11 straight from 1997 to 2000. A year ago the two squads played to a true split at KU's Hoglund Ballpark as each team earned a win and the series finale ended in an 8-8 tie.

UP NEXT
The Aggies make a quick trip to Arlington, Texas, to battle UT-Arlington on Tuesday in a 6:30 p.m. contest before traveling to Manhattan, Kan., to continue Big 12 play against Kansas State April 1-3.

NOTES AND NOTABLES
 • Sophomore outfielder Tyler Naqiun has developed into one of the best hitters in the Big 12. The Spring, Texas, native has hit safely in 16 of 20 games this season and has reached back in two of the four games he has not recorded a hit.

 • The Aggies are 15-1 this season when scoring two or more runs and 13-0 when scoring four or more runs. A&M has lost five games this season with four of the setbacks being of the one-run variety. Through the season's first 21 games, the Aggies have held opponent to two runs or less 14 times.

 • Texas A&M's pitching staff ranks among the best nationally statistically (rankings & stats as of March 21) in several categories - ERA (4th - 1.68), Walks Allowed per Nine Innings (2nd - 1.83), Hits Allowed per Nine Innings (5th - 6.58).

 • Additionally, the Aggies ranked second nationally in the same rankings in team fielding percentage (Currently at .984). The team defense is much improved from a year ago when A&M finished with a .964 fielding percentage.

 • Junior pitcher Ross Stripling was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Monday. For the week he was 2-0 with just two runs allowed in 13 innings of work, 12 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA. This spring, Stripling owns a 4-1 season record with a 0.96 ERA and leads Texas A&M in victories, appearances (10) and saves (3).
