COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Coming off an impressive week in which he helped lead the Texas A&M baseball team to a 4-0 record that included a sweep of Kansas, freshman outfielder Krey Bratsen was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Monday.

The Bryan, Texas, product been an offensive force for the Aggies all season long but took his game to another level last week when he hit .438 (7-for-16) with a double, five RBI, two runs and two stolen bases.

Bratsen's already solid week became outstanding on Saturday when he notched a career-high four hits during a 4-for-5 afternoon that featured two runs, two RBI and a steal in the 11-1 win over the Jayhawks.

He kept the momentum of the week going into Sunday's contest when he notched his team-leading 11th multi-hit game as the Aggies completed the sweep of Kansas. In the series finale, Bratsen was 2-for-3 at the plate, swiped a base and knocked home two of the Aggie runs in a 3-1 victory.

In addition to his exploits at the plate, Bratsen also foiled a potential KU rally by gunning down a runner at third base from center field during the seventh inning of Sunday's contest. In the three games against KU, Bratsen was 7-for-12 (.582) as the Aggies ascended to the top of the Big 12 standings.

Bratsen and the rest of the Aggies are back in action Tuesday when they travel to Arlington, Texas, to put their six-game winning streak on the line as they face UT Arlington (14-10) in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Clay Gould Ballpark.
