IRVING - Texas A&M senior sprinter Demetrius Pinder was named the men's Big 12 Track & Field Athlete of the Week along with Texas hurdler Keiron Stewart.

Pinder ran the collegiate leading time for the 2011 outdoor season a week ago with a 20.54 victory in San Diego. This past weekend Pinder ran the second fastest collegiate time during the Arizona State Invitational with a 20.73 and defeated Olympic 400m gold medalist Jeremy Wariner (21.05) in the process.

In the 4 x 400 relay Pinder split a 44.8 as the anchor leg and moved the Aggies from third to first. The A&M relay won in 3:04.92, breaking an 11-year-old meet record of 3:05.70 set by USC in 2000. Baylor finished second in 3:05.49 while a second Aggie relay placed third in 3:05.56.
